DESCRIPTION
This is a non-invasive test (ie no pain!) done at Biolab in London which checks levels of the following minerals: zinc, copper, nickel, chromium, manganese, sodium, magnesium, lead, cadmium and aluminium. Sweat test is particularly useful for children and wimps because they don't need to have a needle stuck in them, but it does mean a trip to Biolab in London.
The only drawback is that this test does not look at selenium levels - a shame because selenium is an important mineral.
All the levels are reliable (in contrast to a hair analysis)
The commonest finding is low magnesium and zinc. This test can also include mercury - the cost is then £56.00. If you wish to order, please send an e-mail requesting Sweat mineral analysis with mercury.
One interesting finding is that autistic children are almost invariably deficient in magnesium, manganese and zinc. So strong is this finding that I can diagnose autism from this test alone! I expect someone will prove me wrong sooner or later!
SAMPLE
KIT
A previously cleaned and weighed absorbent patch (7cm x 3cm) is taped to the patient's back for 1 hour. The increase in the weight of the patch indicates the quantity of sweat collected. The trace elements are extracted from the patches with a mild acid solution.
When I first heard of this test I had visions of an exercise bike on which one had to thrash away until the beads of sweat rolled off for collection! Not so!

The patient must attend the laboratory, Biolab Medical Unit, 9 Weymouth Street, London W1N 3FF. It is necessary to have a doctor's referral (you obtain it by ordering this test from this website) - Biolab will not accept self-referrals from the public.
