DESCRIPTION
This test measures IgE antibody levels to 14 specific inhalant allergens. The panel covers grasses, trees, animal dander, weeds, molds, and dust. These include house dust mite, storage and other mites, comprehensive grass mix, cultivated rye, comprehensive tree mix, comprehensive weed mix, cat, horse and cow dander, comprehensive mould.
I rarely do this test simply because I can skin test patients when they come to see me. However, it is a fairly reliable test since these allergies are mediated via IgE.
If the results show that you are reacting to one of the allergens only, and it is possible to eliminate it from your environment, then this should resolve the problem. If, however, the result shows that you are reacting to more than one of the allergens tested, and in particular you react to grass and tree mixes, and your symptoms are severe and not easily controlled by benign medications, then I would recommend that you consider desensitisation; see Enzyme Potentiated Desensitisation (EPD)
