DESCRIPTION

Measures serum homocysteine. Raised levels are a major cause of arterial disease and in my view we should all be screened for it, especially if there is a strong family history of arterial disease (heart attacks and strokes) with no obvious risk factors.

SAMPLE

This needs a blood test, but the problem is the blood has to be separated within a few minutes of phlebotomy. You need either a doctor who has a centrifuge, or you need to attend a laboratory to have blood taken. You can approach your local private hospital with a pathology lab to see if they will take blood and spin and separate it. You then post it to The Doctors' Laboratory by FIRST CLASS POST in the envelope provided.
